Plant medicines and substances that broke open ordinary perception
Plant medicines and psychedelics appear in roughly one in fourteen accounts, most commonly ayahuasca and psilocybin mushrooms. These experiences range from catalytic openings to sustained shifts that permanently changed the person's relationship to reality.
What distinguishes the accounts that count as triggers (rather than just experiences) is that something changed that didn't close back. The substance opened a door the person then found themselves unable — or unwilling — to walk back through.
But 5-MeO, it does hit the 5-HT2A, but it's the only one in the in the in the sort of tryptamines or the sort of classic when we're talking about, yeah, mushrooms, ayahuasca, even LSD, like it's the only one that that has a strong affinity for the 5-HT1A receptor.
So I'm like, you know, I used many years ago I did LSD, mushrooms, all that stuff, but I hadn't done any ayahuasca and I thought, I'm going to go do that, you know.
I had taken mushrooms on so many other occasions before, but I had done it so much that uh my trips weren't even really trips anymore.
Um and that makes all the difference cuz when I was a young when I was young, I would take psychedelics in party settings and like high doses of LSD.
