Sleep Disruption

Nights of wakefulness, 3am awareness, or needing much less sleep

What is this

Sleep becomes impossible or dramatically altered during the awakening process. Accounts describe lying awake for nights, waking at 3am in states of heightened awareness, or requiring much less sleep than before — sometimes for extended periods of months or years.

Several accounts describe the wakefulness not as insomnia (lying awake troubled) but as a kind of alert, clear presence that simply doesn't want or need sleep in the ordinary way.

From the accounts
And I went through the next two nights completely awake through the process of falling asleep, process of deep sleep, through the arising and falling of dreams, back into deep sleep, back into the alarm waking up in the morning, my body fluttering to life, me walking to the meditation.
But I say, you know, if you want to do something fun, try and stay awake while you fall asleep in your meditation.
At night, in the beginning especially, I couldn't sleep for more than two hours - this pain would wake you up, you'd be in the bathroom, you'd fall asleep in that pain, wake up in that pain.
And when I wake up, whatever information you wanna bring forward, let me know upon waking up or where I'm doing anything else, but I need my sleep.
