Stories of Awakening is a research and information website. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit this site, how it is used, and what choices you have. It is written plainly.
The short version: this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read; it uses Google Search Console to see how it appears in Google search results. It has a contact form and a newsletter sign-up, and what you type into them is sent only if you choose to send it. No accounts exist. Nothing is sold.
Browsing this site does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal information. Standard visitor statistics come from Google Analytics, a service provided by Google.
We see this information as totals. We cannot identify individual visitors from it, and Google Analytics does not give us your name, email address or precise location.
We use Google Search Console, a Google service that shows how this site appears in Google search results: which searches led people here, and how often the site was shown and clicked. It reports totals, not individual people. It adds nothing to this site and sets no cookies.
Google Analytics uses cookies, small files stored in your browser, to tell visits apart. They are not used for advertising.
You can turn off cookies in your browser settings or use a browser extension to block Google Analytics. Google also provides an official opt-out tool.
The contact page has a form you can use to write to us. It asks for your name, your email address, a subject, and your message. You only share these if you choose to send a message.
The form is handled by Formspree, a form service that receives what you type and delivers it to us by email. The form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that it is being sent by a person rather than an automated program. To do that, Turnstile looks at technical details of your visit, such as your browser and connection.
We use what you send only to read and answer your message. Sending a message does not add you to any mailing list.
Some pages have a box to sign up for the newsletter. It asks only for your email address. The box is provided by beehiiv, which runs the newsletter: your address goes straight to beehiiv, which stores it and sends each issue, and every issue has a link to unsubscribe.
Visitor and search statistics are used only to understand how the site is used and found, and whether it is working correctly. They help decide what to improve. Messages sent through the contact form are used only to reply to you. Newsletter addresses are used only to send the newsletter.
This site uses Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Formspree, Cloudflare Turnstile and beehiiv. Each has its own privacy practices, and we do not control how they handle the information they receive. Google’s privacy policy is here.
This site links to other websites, including the interviews and archives the accounts come from. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share visitor information, messages or email addresses with anyone for commercial purposes.
Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider, which may keep server logs. These usually include IP addresses and the time of each request. We do not access or analyse these logs.
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Its subject matter is intended for adults.
This site can be visited from anywhere. If you are visiting from the European Union or another place with data protection laws (such as the GDPR), the information above describes what is collected. If you have sent us a message and would like it deleted, or have any other request about your information, write to the address below.
If we change how information is collected or used in a meaningful way, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
